Position Overview:
We are seeking a warm, authentic and dedicated Montessori Primary Guide to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Montessori education and possess the knowledge, experience, and skills to guide and support children between the ages of 2.5 - 7 years old.  Excellent communication skills and flexibility are a requirement.  We are a small school with a high degree of collaboration between and within the children’s houses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide/co-lead/assist in facilitating the effective implementation of the Montessori approach, supporting the whole child and community of children in their academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

  • Prepare and maintain a well-organized, stimulating, and safe classroom environment that promotes independence and self-directed learning.

  • Observe and assess each child’s progress, adapting lessons and activities to meet their unique needs and interests.

  • Foster a sense of responsibility, respect, and community within the classroom and school.

  • Communicate regularly with parents, including emails, Brightwheel messages, conferences, calls and during school events.

  • Collaborate with fellow staff to ensure an integrated and cohesive approach to supporting each child.

  • Actively contribute to school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Montessori Primary Certification ( AMI preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred, not required)

  • Previous experience working in a Montessori classroom with children preferred

  • Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and principles

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A genuine love for working with children and a commitment to their growth and development

  • Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic classroom environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting

  • Openness to being coached

Whole School Support Person

Do you enjoy variety in your work? This position is a little bit of everything: serving each of our 2 children’s houses and Director as needed. This includes office and computer work as well as subbing as needed.

Hours: M-F 8:00 AM-2:00 PM (210 days/year)

Duties & Requirements include those outlined in the assistant/aide description as well as some organizational office tasks including the use Excel/Google Sheets, Canva and scanning.

Compensation dependents on experience and education.

Assistant/Aide

This part time, year round, weekday position involves being a teacher’s assistant as well as working with a group of children.

7:30-3 PM M-F beginning ASAP

Expected hours: 20 – 37 per week (depends on position), 210 days/year

Together with the teacher, the Assistant shares the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the children, both indoor and outside and helps to prepare and maintain the classroom.

Requirements

  • Has experience working with children, Montessori experience preferred though not required but curiosity and willing to learn are a must

  • Enjoys observing and working with a stable group of young children.

  • Able to work independently and as a team member.

  • Maintains professional demeanor; demonstrates integrity and confidentiality.

  • Enjoys supervising and working with children outside.

  • Flexible with a positive attitude

  • Enroll in the Oregon Central Background registry

  • Take CPR/1st Aid, RRCAN, ICCHS, FFL online trainings and obtain Oregon Food Handlers Permit.

  • High School diploma, higher education preferred (Bachelors or course work)
